This initiative is aimed at empowering young adults (aged 18+) from economically disadvantaged backgrounds by providing them with training in valuable skills and facilitating access to employment and entrepreneurship opportunities. The program seeks to enhance their prospects for success while contributing to the broader socioeconomic advancement of their communities.
Off the Street is a new initiative, and we welcome volunteers, partners, funders/donors.
Off the Streets training model is based on strong industry networks, counseling and hands-on skills training.
VETTING OF INTEREST
Introductory courses that provide trainees with exposure to a vocation, job opportunities, alumni stories, and the alignment of interests.
Duration of 7-10 days.
THEORY COURSES
Training which covers all the essential theory for the trade. Includes daily instructor-led training sessions.
Duration of 20-30 days.
PRACTICAL TRAINING
Practical skills training to be completed either at a HoB’s Youth training center, industry partner, or a community-based center.
Duration of 5-6 months.
PLACEMENT / SELF EMPLOYMENT
Qualified trainees will be awarded job opportunities available within the chosen vocation, ranging from entry-level positions to senior roles.
Duration of 6 months.
House of Blossoms plans to work with leading firms and vocational institutions on the Off the Streets initiative to develop a concept for trade associations, to ensure the sustainability of the training system, to further develop and adapt the curriculum as the market evolves. The project will be scaled to other regions. The goal is to achieve 80% market coverage through 70 participating companies and 1’000 apprentices.
